Why Flodesk is my Email Marketing Platform of Choice

Over the last 5 years in business, I’ve seen BTS of over 50 women’s businesses (like, deeeeep behind the scenes). That means I’ve seen a lot of different tech stacks, including just about every email marketing platform out there.

And one of the questions our clients often ask is: what software can I use for this without having to learn a sh*t ton of tech in the process?

I’m so glad you asked.

Looking Pretty does Matter

When it comes to email marketing, Flodesk is far and above my favorite option. Yes, if a client is already firmly planted in a different platform we’ll use it, but nothing is as pretty and easy to use as Flodesk. (And if they’re open to it, we’ll migrate clients to Flodesk.)

Let’s be honest, we care how things look. If a clunky email lands in my inbox, I’m likely to move it straight to the trash folder. And as a business owner, I want to be able to send out emails to my people that are visually appealing enough to keep them reading. Not only that, I want it to be easy (visuals are not my thing! That’s why we have a graphic designer on the Virtual Cornerstone team).

After having seen all the options over the years of prepping emails for our clients, I started my own list with Flodesk (I could never use Mailchimp for myself). And as a user, I was invited to the Flodesk Partner program, which I joined as a passive way to get a little exposure with other entrepreneurs.

But then …

My Love Grew

I started getting to know the company. They’ve hosted calls for Partners sharing about upcoming changes, asking for input, and time and time again proven to be a company that actually cares about the entrepreneurs they serve.

So I went from happy user of Flodesk to a girl’s girl advocate. (I’m a sucker for female-founded businesses focused on serving women.)

Features to Try

And with this BTS access, I’ve learned there’s so much more I could be doing with the platform (and coming soon, because they’re actually implementing the feedback they get).

Here’s my list of things to try with upcoming emails:

Yes, this is in my Asana because as I always say, if it’s not written down it’s not happening.

(Also Asana is another fav of mine, blog on that coming soon!)

Integrations

I’m all about working with what you already have (that’s why I’m switching from Zoom to Google Meets). And if I could please never have to create a Zap again, I’d be thrilled. Getting the platforms you’re on to talk to each other can be one of the *biggest* tech headaches as a business owner (and in the support work we do for our clients).

Praise be, Flodesk integrates with so many of our other favorite platforms like:

  • Canva

  • Honeybook

  • Manychat (coming soon)

Goodbye Zapier! 🙌🏼

Here’s some of the other integrations Flodesk has that I don’t personally use:

  • Shopify

  • Bookfunnel

  • Ineract

  • Madiavine

Analytics

Keeping an eye on the stats with email marketing is sooo important. Are people opening it (aka how’s your subject line)? Are they clicking on your links (aka are they wanting more)?

But for many of us (hi, me) numbers aren’t exactly our *thing*. And while Flodesk does have more in depth analytics available for those who want to nerd out, or hire someone to really get into the weeds for them, I love that I can quickly check a snapshot of how an email performed after it’s sent.

Each time I login, I take a look at my most recent emails and let that help inform what I send next. It’s clean, clear and (bonus!) pretty:

Can we just acknowledge the impact a pretty font has on calming my brain?

More than Emails

But wait, there’s more?! Honestly, just the seamless, non-clunky interface and beautiful templates are enough for me to be a big Flodesk fan. And YET, they offer even more.

In addition to email marketing, Flodesk has:

  • Forms

  • Workflows

  • Checkouts

Personally, I use the forms for freebies and email sign-ups. Then, contacts are added accordingly to the workflow that applies. For example:

→ Someone signs up for my Kickstart your VA Business freebie

→ They’re added to the “Kickstart VA Guide” segment:

→ Being added to the segment drops them into the right workflow which delivers the freebie:

And, the contact is on my main list to receive my regular emails that go out to everyone every other Tuesday-ish. Again, a moment for how pretty it all is.

You Can Use It, Too

Clients are often looking for the easiest thing to use. Yes, we mostly use it for them (not having to touch the tech is one of the best rewards working with us), but it’s still YOUR business. It’s important that even if someone else is primarily running your tech, you know how to log in, make an edit, take a peek at performance, and understand the basics.

This is the #1 reason Flodesk is my top recommended software for email marketing.

You don’t have to be a tech whiz. You don’t have to navigate through a million confusing buttons to get to what you’re trying to do.

It’s simple, straightforward, and takes a design-first approach (unlike the other platforms out there).

If you’re ready to finally start your email list (or move to a platform you can actually understand), use my code (HAMILTON) to get 25% off your first year of Flodesk

*Yes, I am a Flodesk Partner because I’m genuinely a big fan!*
